Kyushu University Institute for Asian and Oceanian Studies (Q-AOS) is engaged in various activities aimed at creating a new academic field that will open the future by contributing to the resolution of social issues in Asian and Oceanian countries through both solutions to the problems of the present and prediction of the issues expected to be faced in the future.
Grounded in the belief that solving the issues of Asia and Oceania will lead to solutions to issues the world over, we promote interdisciplinary and collaborative research and educational activities together with the whole college.
Q-AOS is committed to achieving the goals of the SDGs by working together across disciplines and multi-module clusters to take on social issues that require a multifaceted approach.
Kyushu University has vast accumulation of research and education related to Asia thanks to its geographical advantage. To enhance the university’s presence, and to strengthen the cooperation with overseas universities and to promote the establishment of a new international exchange and collaboration schemes, Kyushu University has started the Kyushu University Asia Week since 2020.
This year, from November 6th (Mon) to November 11th (Sat), Kyushu University will hold various events under the theme of “A Week to Seek Asia”. These events include invited lectures, Asian and Oceanian Award (poster presentation competition for early-career researchers and students), SDGs Special Seminars, and Special BBS focusing on Asia and Oceania region.
Because of the global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have held this events online since 2020, however, we are going to organize most events “in-person” this year. We are looking forward to your participation in Kyushu University.
