Kyushu University Institute for Asian and Oceanian Studies (Q-AOS) is engaged in various activities aimed at creating a new academic field that will open the future by contributing to the resolution of social issues in Asian and Oceanian countries through both solutions to the problems of the present and prediction of the issues expected to be faced in the future.

Grounded in the belief that solving the issues of Asia and Oceania will lead to solutions to issues the world over, we promote interdisciplinary and collaborative research and educational activities together with the whole college.

Q-AOS is committed to achieving the goals of the SDGs by working together across disciplines and multi-module clusters to take on social issues that require a multifaceted approach.

 Kyushu University has been holding the Asia Week since 2020 with the aim of enhancing the presence of the university, strengthening cooperation with overseas universities, etc., as well as promoting the establishment of a new international exchange and collaboration system by appealing its vast accumulation of research and education related to Asia and its potential for new developments both domestically and internationally.

 From this year, Q-AOS will be the host, and will hold the opening events, Poster Presentations for early-career researchers and students, SDGs Special Seminar, and Special BBS from November 4 (Friday) to November 12 (Saturday), under the main theme, “Kyushu University Open to Asia and Connecting with Asia”.
 Heri Akhmadi, The ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, will be the guest of the opening event “Indonesia-Kyushu University, Spirit of Future” on the first day of Asia Week, and he will make a keynote speech. In addition, Indonesian students and alumni will have a presentations and you can also enjoy a performance by Indonesian percussion “Angklung” and a traditional dance performance “Saman Dance”.
